Youngstown, OH – One Killed in Explosion on E Federal St

Youngstown, OH (May 29, 2024) – A major explosion reported on Tuesday evening in downtown Youngstown claimed one person’s life. The incident occurred just after 3:00 p.m. on May 28.

According to law enforcement reports, an explosion occurred at the Realty building located on East Federal Street. The police confirmed that a Chase Bank is located at the bottom of the building. Multiple first responders rushed to the scene to provide assistance. A total of seven people were transported to Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Hospital for emergency medical treatment. At least one victim was admitted in critical condition. At around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, authorities recovered the body of a 27-year-old man. The police confirmed that the victim was an employee at the bank. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
