Scipio Twp., OH (July 14, 2024) – Three people were fatally injured in a motor vehicle accident that took place in Seneca County. The collision was reported on Thursday morning, July 11.
At around 10:50 a.m., a Ram Promaster was traveling westbound on County Road 24. As the vehicle passed through the area of State Route 18, it failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, the vehicle collided with the northeast-bound Ford pickup truck. A semi-truck tractor-trailer driving down the roadway then struck the Ford pickup truck and the pro master. The Ford and the semi-truck continued forward off the roadway and overturned. The Ford caught on fire, and the semi-truck collided with a utility pole. Multiple people involved in the accident were injured.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and pronounced a 13-year-old male and 67-year-old Richard Miller deceased at the scene due to their injuries. The driver of the Ram Promaster, identified as 57-year-old David Gaertner, was severely injured in the crash. He was airlifted and flown by air ambulance to an area hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 42-year-old Aaron Knoll, was also injured and transported by ambulance to an area medical facility. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
