Hartford Twp., OH (May 30, 2024) – A major motor vehicle accident caused by what appeared to be a distracted driver left more than half a dozen people injured. The accident occurred at around noon on Sunday, May 26.
According to area law enforcement, a Jeep Cherokee driven by Ronald Jones of Sharon, Pennsylvania, was traveling on Ohio 7 near Thompson Sharpsville Road. Authorities believe that the driver of the vehicle became distracted, and, as a result, crashed the vehicle into a pickup truck.
A total of eight people were hurt in the crash, including a 9-year-old boy. All eight victims were treated for injuries at the scene. Six of the injured victims were transported to Mercy Health – St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for further medical care. No further details are available regarding the location of the hospital where the two additional injured victims were transported. At this time, the Ohio State
Highway Patrol is investigating.
