Canton, OH (April 10, 2024) – The Canton Police Department was notified that their assistance was needed at the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred at around 3:05 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
According to law enforcement, a 2018 black vehicle was traveling through the intersection of 44th Street Northwest and Normal Avenue Northwest during the afternoon hours. The vehicle proceeded forward and failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, the black vehicle collided head-on with a silver 2020 Nissan Murano. The driver of the black vehicle, identified as 44-year-old Jeremy Thomas Oyer, was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign. One person in the Nissan, identified as 50-year-old Brian James Martin, was injured. Canton Fire Department EMS transported Martin to Mercy Medical Center for emergency care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
