Lakewood, OH (June 5, 2024) – Emergency crews were requested to provide help at the scene of a car crash that took place in Lakewood on Monday afternoon, June 3.
At around 3:45 p.m., a gray 2012 Mazda CX7 was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 6 Alternate. At the same time, a young male was riding through the area on a manual scooter. As the Mazda CX7 proceeded east, the driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the person on the scooter in the crosswalk while making a left turn. As a result, the Mazda CX7 struck the scooter, whose operator was later identified as a 10-year-old boy. The child was injured in the accident and transported to Fairview emergency room for treatment. The driver of the vehicle was cited for failing to yield to a crosswalk. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
