Bedford, OH (February 22, 2024) – On February 21, emergency crews were summoned to the scene of an automobile accident in Bedford that ended in injuries. The crash was reported to the Bedford Police Department at 1:19 p.m.
Police reports show that a silver 2014 Hyundai Elantra was stopped at a red light while facing westbound on Forbes Road at the intersection with Broadway Avenue. A silver 2010 vehicle was heading northwest on Broadway Avenue in the right curb lane. The driver of the Hyundai Elantra stated that as the light turned green, they pulled ahead through the intersection when their vehicle collided with the other silver vehicle.
The driver of that vehicle, 21-year-old Michael Austin, stated that he was in the intersection on a yellow light when the collision occurred. One person involved in the accident, 58-year-old Lisa Skerl of Bedford, Ohio, was transported to UH Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood for medical care. Michael Austin was cited for failing to obey traffic control. Video footage and a witness statement were both provided to authorities. Investigations are currently ongoing.
