Parma, OH (May 2, 2024) – On May 1, emergency officials were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Parma area that resulted in injuries. The collision was reported to the Parma Police Department at around 11:44 a.m.
Reports provided by law enforcement show that a white 2021 vehicle was stopped in traffic on State Road, Ohio State Route 94, while waiting to make a left turn onto Sandy Hook Drive. At the same time, a gray 2022 vehicle was stopped in traffic on State Road in the northbound lane behind the white vehicle. For unknown reasons, the driver of a blue 2003 Toyota Sienna failed to ensure a clear distance and crashed into the gray vehicle. The impact of the crash caused the gray vehicle to strike the white vehicle. All three vehicles were unable to be driven as a result of the accident.
One person was injured as a result of the accident. Parma Fire Department EMS responded to the scene to render aid to 20-year-old Erika Mariya Ihorivna Zhytnyak. She was then transported to UH Parma Medical Center for further care. The incident is being investigated at this time.
