Wood Co., OH (July 30, 2024) – Emergency crews were summoned to provide assistance at the scene of a car crash that occurred in Wood County on Monday afternoon and claimed one person’s life. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office was informed of the collision at around 2:30 p.m. on July 29.
According to official reports, a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound on Mermill Road during the afternoon hours. As the vehicle proceeded through the area of Ohio State Route 25, it collided with a pickup truck. One person involved in the accident, identified as 50-year-old Cassy Shank, died from her injuries while at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck and an 11-year-old passenger were injured. The driver was transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment. The child was airlifted and flown to Toledo Hospital with severe injuries. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
