Westlake, OH (May 9, 2024) – At around 2:00 p.m. on May 7, emergency crews in Westlake were requested at the scene of a motor vehicle accident in which one person was hurt.
According to police reports, a bicycle was heading eastbound on Hilliard Boulevard during the afternoon hours. As the bicyclist approached the intersection of King James Parkway, a gray 2019 vehicle turned southbound onto the parkway in an improper manner and struck the bicyclist, who had the right of way.
The bicyclist was injured as a result of the accident. The Westlake Fire Department EMS responded to the scene and rendered aid to 60-year-old John Patrick Pitts of Rocky River, Ohio. Pitts was transported to UH St John Medical Center for further treatment and evaluation. The driver of the gray vehicle was issued a traffic citation for turning at an intersection. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
