Jerusalem Twp., OH – Mary Spetz Loses Life in Car Crash on SR-2

Jerusalem Twp., OH (January 23, 2024) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that 92-year-old Mary Spetz of Oregon, Ohio, lost her life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday evening, January 21.

According to reports, 23-year-old Caleb Moore was heading west on Ohio State Route 2 while driving a Honda CRV. For reasons unknown, his vehicle crossed the lane and struck a Toyota Camry, which was traveling eastbound. The driver of the Camry, a 67-year-old man from Curtice, Ohio, was seriously injured. He was transported to St. Vincent Medical Center for emergency care. A passenger in the Toyota, identified as Spetz, was fatally injured. She was pronounced deceased by authorities. Moore, who suffered minor injuries, was taken into police custody. Alcohol and marijuana are believed to have played a role in this crash. Investigations are currently underway.
