Sylvania Twp., OH (April 22, 2024) – Two people were transported to area hospitals following a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the Sylvania Township on Saturday morning, April 21. The police and firefighters were notified of the accident just before 7:40 a.m.
According to reports from authorities, a white 2015 Chrysler 200 was driving westbound on Ohio State Route 120, West Central Avenue. At the same time, a black 2018 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling eastbound on the same road. As the vehicles passed Exmoor Drive, the driver of the Chevrolet Traverse apparently fell asleep at the wheel, resulting in the vehicle crossing over the center line and colliding with the Chrysler 200.
Two people were injured in the accident. Emergency medical services responded to the crash site to render aid to 57-year-old Steven Christopher Portteus and 54-year-old Alma Angelina Stewart. Portteus was transported to Toledo Hospital for medical care, and Stewart was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
