Painesville Twp., OH (February 3, 2024) – A 56-year-old man lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Thursday in Painesville Township. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on February 1.
Reports from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office indicate that a man was outside of a dump truck at the Lake County Solid Waste Facility on Blasé Nemeth Road during the morning hours. A gust of wind came through the area, causing debris and dirt to blow towards the man. The man moved to take cover. At the same time, a dump truck was backing in, and the driver of the dump truck failed to see the man and struck him. The man was unfortunately severely injured in the crash. Officers performed CPR until emergency medical services arrived. The man was transported to an area hospital, where he ultimately passed away from his injuries. The police department is currently investigating.
