Lakewood, OH (May 24, 2024) – At around 9:45 a.m. on May 22, the Lakewood Police Department and firefighters responded to the scene of a crash that ended in injuries.
Police reports indicate that a red 2022 Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on US Route 6A, Detroit Avenue. At the same time, 25-year-old Ryan Steven Dedo was walking eastbound on the north side of the roadway. As the pedestrian began to cross the roadway on a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Northland Avenue, the driver of the Hyundai attempted to turn at the intersection and struck the pedestrian. The driver of the Hyundai was cited for a “right-of-way in crosswalk” violation. Dedo was injured in the crash. The victim was transported to the Lakewood Emergency Department for medical care. The incident is being investigated.
