Lakewood, OH (February 16, 2024) – Just before 7:50 a.m. on February 15, emergency crews were summoned to the scene of a motor vehicle accident that resulted in injuries.
Reports from the Lakewood Police Department indicate that a black 2018 Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on US Highway 6A, Detroit Avenue. At the same time, a pedestrian was on the north side of the roadway while waiting for a green crosswalk signal at the intersection of Woodward Avenue. Once the light changed and the pedestrian was provided the right of way, she began to cross the road.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla did not see the light change until she proceeded through the intersection. As a result, the Toyota Corolla struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as an 11-year-old female from Lakewood, Ohio, was transported to Fairview Hospital for medical care. The driver of the Toyota Corolla was issued a citation for a red light violation. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
