Hambden Twp., OH (January 29, 2024) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that a fatal accident occurred in Geauga County on Sunday afternoon that claimed the life of a young child. Authorities were called to the scene of the accident at around 1:30 p.m. on January 28.
According to OSHP reports, 39-year-old Ryan Looman was driving a white SUV southbound on North State Avenue. For unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway. As the driver attempted to stay on the roadway, he overcorrected the vehicle and went toward the center lane. As a result, the vehicle collided with a black SUV, which was driven by 44-year-old Kristen Goecke.
A 9-year-old child involved in the accident suffered fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Seven additional victims were injured in the crash. EMS responded to the scene to render aid to the victims. Six of the injured victims required transportation to area hospitals for further medical care. At this time, the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
