Cleveland, OH (May 1, 2024) – Authorities confirmed that a team member from the North Coast Emergency Services was injured as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday morning, April 30.
Official reports indicate that at around 1:11 a.m., a trooper was pulled over to the far right lane on Interstate 71 North. The North Coast Emergency Services vehicle was parked behind the trooper’s vehicle. Approximately five minutes later, a 31-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet Trax at a high rate of speed crashed into the North Coast Emergency Services vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, Caitlin Jones, was treated for injuries. Authorities confirmed that she was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested for OVI. The driver of the North Coast Emergency Services vehicle, 63-year-old Rufus Killpatrick, was briefly trapped in his vehicle. He was injured in the crash and had to be transported to a local hospital for emergency care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
