Canton, OH (April 18, 2024) – At around 3:03 p.m. on April 16, the Canton Police Department and area firefighters were called to the scene of an automobile accident that reportedly caused injuries to at least one individual.
Preliminary investigations determined that a silver 2008 vehicle was traveling southbound on Interstate 77. For unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a green 2018 vehicle near mile marker 104. The impact of the collision caused the green vehicle to collide with a blue 2017 vehicle. At least one tow truck was called to the scene of the accident to remove the damaged vehicles.
One victim was injured in the accident. EMS responded to the scene to care for 29-year-old Alissa Marie Whitmer. Whitmer was transported to Aultman Hospital for further medical care. The driver of the silver vehicle was cited for a speed violation. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
